Flag fall in a Macau taxi is MOP$10 for the first 1.5km, MOP$1 for each additional 200m. There is a MOP$5 surcharge to go to Coloane; travelling between Taipa and Coloane is MOP$2 extra. Journeys starting from the airport incur an extra charge of MOP$5. Large bags cost an extra MOP$3. Taxis can be dispatched by radio by ringing Tel 519 519, Tel 939 939 or Tel 398 8800.

The Zhuhai Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in mainland China just across Macau's northern border makes for an interesting day or overnight trip. Take bus No. 3, 5 or 9 to the Border Gate - known as the Portas de Cereo (Gates of Siege) in Portuguese - and simply walk across (7am-midnight). A second crossing, the Cotai Frontier Post, allows passengers to cross over the Lotus Bridge linking Macau and the Zhuhai SEZ from 9am to 5pm daily, but it is of little use to most visitors. Bus No. 26 will drop you off here.
Holders of most passports will be able to purchase their visas (MOP$100) at the border, but it will ultimately save you time (if not money) to buy one in advance. These are available in Hong Kong or in Macau from Global International Tourist Co. Ltd (Avn. Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues, S/N, Edif. First International C. Center, 19 andar, Macau Tel 7999 733) in one day for MOP$180 (plus photos).
If you want to travel farther afield in China, buses run by the Kee Kwan Motor Road Co (Tel 933 888) leave the small station on Rua das Lorchas, 100m southwest of the end of Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, daily for Guangzhou (MOP$55, every 15 minutes between 7:30am and 7:30pm) and Zhongshan (MOP$15, every 20 minutes between 8am and 5:30pm).

The vast majority of travellers, including citizens of the European Union (EU), Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada and South Africa, can enter Macau with just their passports for 30 days.
Travellers who do require them can get visas valid for 30 days on arrival in Macau. They cost M$100/50 for adults/children less than 12 years of age.
You can get a one-month extension (only) from the Macau Immigration Office (Tel 725 488; Ground floor, Travessa da Amizade; 9am-12:30pm, 2:30-5pm Mon-Fri).
Besides issuing invitation letter to visitors, China Guide also helps reserve hotel rooms for all guests. Since there is a strong demand for accommodation during the fair, the local hotels often risk an incredible high room rate despite government pricing regulations. Don’t get ripped off by the inflated hotel rate, consult with us now for the proper hotel rate.
